How can I control the number of load steps in solving nonlinear problems?

Hi,
Now I'm involved in nonlinear static analysis, using the incremental force method.
I wonder if I can control the number of load steps in the Newton iterations. If possible, please let me know where the option is. I think the initial value is set to be one, but unfortunately the single load step is frequently not enough to get converged solutions.
