Wall Shear Stress in different directions

As stress is a tensor, and is different in different directions, i was wondering how to find the wall shear stress in x and in y directions seperately as i have to study different aspects of a microfluidic device. spf.mu*(spf.sr) does not seem to be directional, even if i use it on a line on x or y it will give me the same value for a particular point. How do i get it's components?

if i want Wall Shear Stress in x, can i take a single point on the wall and do spf.mu(d(u,x))? and can i similarly do spf.mu(d(v,y)) for Wall Shear Stress in y?
