Can you specify which independant variables the dependant variables depend on?

Hi,
I am currently trying to solve a problem in COMSOL Multiphysics.
The problem has one space dimension (x) and is time (t) dependent. I have two unknown dependent variables p and h_0, with p = p(x, t) and h_0 = h_0(t).
However, I cannot seem to specify that h_0 is only dependent on time t, and I, therefore, have to supply boundary value data for h_0 (which I do not have as h_0 is not defined there!)
Is there anyway of specifying that h_0 is dependent only on t, eliminating the need to specify boundary value data for h_0?
Thanks, Darren
