Keynote: Designing New Properties of Acoustic Interfaces Through Active Electroacoustic Resonators

In this keynote talk from COMSOL Day: Acoustics, Hervé Lissek introduces concepts of metamaterial and metasurfaces that use active electroacoustic resonators to achieve anomalous acoustic refraction. The development of these resonators has led to a new class of acoustic interfaces in which acoustic impedance can be electrically set to a target, allowing for systems that are reconfigurable on the fly. Lissek shows how they used the COMSOL Multiphysics®software as part of their design process to access physical quantities that are not possible to capture via measurements.

Hervé Lissek is the head of the Acoustic Group at the LTS2 Signal Processing Laboratory of the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).
